Picture Retakes

Students will have the opportunity for picture retakes on Friday, October 31, 2014. We will call each group, by grade, separately and everyone should have their picture taken before 11:00 AM.

Cookie Dough Fundraiser

Students will be selling Mrs. Fields cookie dough and Auntie Anne's Treats from Sep 30 - Oct 20 to friends and family members in an effort to raise money for DMS clubs and extra curricular activites! All 8th grade students will receive 20% of their total sales to be placed directly into their Washington DC trip savings account. Make all checks payable to Discovery Middle School. Order forms MUST be turned in no later than Mon, Oct 20, 2014. Product will arrive before Thanksgiving!

P-H-M High Ability

In accordance with the Indiana high ability law, we are required to have an identification process in place to identify students of high ability in the general intellectual and specific academic domains. We identify students who have high ability in language arts and/or math.

Every kindergartener, second and fifth grader who has not been previously identified in a subject area is considered for high ability identification.

Testing for the high ability identification process will begin in December.

Yearbook Information!

Discovery named a National Blue Ribbon School for 2013

Discovery Middle School is one of 286 schools recognized by U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan as a 2013 National Blue Ribbon School. "Excellence in education matters and we should honor the schools that are leading the way to prepare students for success in college and careers,' said Secretary Duncan. The National Blue Ribbon Schools award honors public and private elementary, middle and high schools where students perform at very high levels or where significant improvements are being made in student achievement.

Discovery rated an A by the Indiana Department of Education

Discovery Middle School has received an A by the Indiana Department of Education (IDOE). This grade reflects Discovery's most recent academic performance. Letter grades are calculated based on data collected throughout each school year and takes into account a variety of factors including student performance and student growth.
