Snow Days Make Up Plan
Penn-Harris-Madison schools had a total of nine days this winter season when school was not in session due to bad weather. We received a waiver from the state for January 6 and January 7. We will make-up one day on March 21.
Our innovative plan to make up the remaining six days has been approved by the Indiana Department of Education. The original last day of school was Tuesday, June 3. We will make up three days at the end of the year with school in session until Friday, June 6.
We have worked closely with our teachers to create a comprehensive plan for eLearning to make up the remaining three days (January 29, February 5 and February 7). The eLearning will take place outside of the regular school day. There is a plan for elementary schools, middle schools and Penn High School designed to meet the needs of students at the various grade levels.
The eLearning will be implemented between March 17 and May 12. Our teachers will provide students with many opportunities and a variety of ways to use eLearning to make up for the time lost when school was not in session. The schools will be sharing specific information with students and parents.
This has been a challenging and unusual winter season, however, we think this plan to make up days through a combination of extending the school year and eLearning will best serve our students and families.
