End of Year Dance

The 6th/7th grade end of the year dance has been rescheduled for Friday, May 2nd from 4:00 - 5:30. Cost is $3 for admission.

DMS Cheer Tryouts

Calling all DMS 6th and 7th grade’s time for Cheerleading tryouts!                   

  • Monday May 5th - Mandatory parent information night 6:00pm in the LGI
  • Monday May 12th - Mandatory cheer tryout practice 4:00-6:00 pm in the Aux. gym
  • Wednesday May 14th - Mandatory cheer tryout practice 4:00-6:00 pm in the Aux. gym
  • Thursday May 15th - Cheerleading tryouts 4:00-8:00

Piano Lab Concert Dates Changed

The date for Piano Lab concerts has been changed to Tuesday, June 3rd. 

6th grade - 6:00 PM

7th grade - 7:00 PM

8th grade - 8:00 PM

Discovery Scholastic Art Winners Announced

Congratulations Scholastic Art Award Winners! Scholastic Art Awards is the largest and longest running competition for junior and high school students in our country. It has gotten more selective and more prestigious over the years and the students who have work selected to be entered, even if not chosen for an award, should be extremely proud of doing such high quality work. There are 3 levels of awards: Gold Key, Silver Key, and Honorable Mention. The Gold Key winners will be sent to compete at the national level in New York City.

Scrip Fundraiser

Monday, May 5 is the next order deadline for Scrip. Orders must be placed electronically and checks must be in the office by 4 pm on that day! We are excited to announce that May is Martins month. We are offering $ 50, $100 and $250 gift cards to Martins Supermarket. These cards have a 5% rebate.

Parents: Did you request automatic emails from HAC but not receive them?

If you signed up for automatic emails from HAC but are not receiving any, it is probably because we don't have an accurate email address for you in our system. Please notify your school office or send an email to with your correct email adderss. Also, please don't forget to let us know in the future if your email address changes. HAC automatic emails are a great service to our parents and we want to make sure you get the information you need.

Discovery named a National Blue Ribbon School for 2013

Discovery Middle School is one of 286 schools recognized by U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan as a 2013 National Blue Ribbon School. "Excellence in education matters and we should honor the schools that are leading the way to prepare students for success in college and careers,' said Secretary Duncan. The National Blue Ribbon Schools award honors public and private elementary, middle and high schools where students perform at very high levels or where significant improvements are being made in student achievement.

Discovery rated an A by the Indiana Department of Education

Discovery Middle School has received an A by the Indiana Department of Education (IDOE). This grade reflects Discovery's most recent academic performance. Letter grades are calculated based on data collected throughout each school year and takes into account a variety of factors including student performance and student growth.
