We are pleased to offer the following club options this year to our students. The sponsors have listed the
organizational meeting date and the months each club will meet. Please keep in mind that each club must have a
minimum of ten students in order to run.

Anime Club
Time: 8:00 -8:50am
Dates: September 4th,2024 Informational Meeting in the LGI - Then Wednesdays beginning 9/11/24.
Location: LGI & Room 218 (Location switches every other week starting 9/25/24)
Sponsor: Ms. Horn
In Anime Club, students will spend time together learning about Anime, Japanese culture, the art ofmanga drawing
and watch age appropriate anime shows and movies. Students will be given the opportunities to request anime
shows/movies to watch which will then be viewed/reviewed for age appropriate content by the adult sponsor, Ms.
Horn.
Reading Club
Time: 4:10pm - 5:10pm
Dates: October 14th 2024 Informational Meeting in Room 109 - Then Mondays beginning 11/4 and running through
12/16.

In Reading Club you are invited to come to a cozy coffee shop type of atmosphere paired with calming jazz or
reading music. The group will meet simply to read their current favorite novel.
3D Design and Print Club
Time: 4:00pm - 5:30pm
Dates: March 10th 2025 Informational Meeting. Full meeting schedule will be given after.
Location: Room 224

In 3D Design and Print Club, students will learn different ways to do 3D design and the opportunity to have some
things 3D printed.
Debate Club
Time: 4:00pm-6:00pm
Dates: October 17th 2024 Informational Meeting in LGI - Then Thursdays beginning 10/24 and running through
December 12th. Tourney scheduled for December 15th (Info to follow)

In Debate Club, students from the Penn High School Debate Team will come and teach DMS students about the
proper ways to debate. This includes: research, organization and actual debates.
Robotics Club (7th & 8th Graders)
Time: 4:00pm - 5:30pm
Dates: September 18th 2024 Informational Meeting in Room 224. Full meeting schedule will be given after.
Location: Room 224

In Robotics Club, students will meet to build and code VEX EXP robots.
WDMS
Time: 8:15am-8:50am
Dates: September 17th 2024, Informational Meeting. Meeting schedule beyond that will be determined by the
amount of interest.
Location: IMC
Sponsor: Mrs. Goffinet
WDMS will give students the opportunity to create content to be shown by teachers in the morning. These videos
will start out with 1 per week and the goal is to produce enough to be shown 2 to 3 times per week. On and off
camera opportunities are available and this club is open to all grades.
Donuts and Devotions
Time: 8:00a-8:50a
Dates: Every other Wednesday beginning 9/25/2024 and running through May 2025.
Location: LGI (On the offweeks club leaders will meet Mrs. Cobb in Room 218)

This is a student initiated club. During this time club members will study the bible along with playing bible study
games and eating donuts.
Intramural Fall Tennis
Time: 8:00am to 8:50am
Dates: September 9, 11, 12, 13, 16, 17, 18, 19, & 20
Location: Tennis Courts

We will meet at the tennis courts so students can be dropped off directly at the tennis courts. There will be time to
change out of athletic clothes in the locker room before the bell rings for class. You will need to sign up by going to

Coding Club

Dates: 11/6, 11/13, 11/20, 12/4 & 12/11

A club exclusively for Discovery where me and a few others can go and teach middle schoolers how to code (in
Java). This will be a laid-back and relaxing club, but will also be like a pre-preparation for classes such as AP
Computer Science. Led by Discovery Alum and Penn Student Chris Chen.
