National Honor Society offers great experiences

Interested in joining the National Junior Honor Society? Here is all of the information you need:

Application Process

6th Grade – Invitations will be handed out to eligible sixth graders before at the end of February or beginning of March.  Interested students can pick up an application from the main office, from one of the Advisers (Mrs. Weaver or Mrs. Manspeaker), or print one from the NJHS Blog http://discovery-njhs.blogspot.com/

Students who have a minimum 3.5 cumulative GPA for the first two grading periods of sixth grade in level and above classes, and who have consistently been on the High Honor Roll or Principal's Honor Roll shall be invited to apply for membership.

7th Grade – Invitations are not handed out.  Students interested in applying may check with one of the Advisers (Mrs. Weaver or Mrs. Manspeaker) to see if they are eligible.  If so, they can request an application from the office, one of the Advisers, or print one from the NJHS Blog http://discovery-njhs.blogspot.com/

Seventh grade students may be eligible to apply if:

The student is new to Discovery (enrolled after the mid-point of the first grading period of his/her sixth grade year), has a cumulative GPA for his/her time at DMS of no lower than a 3.5, has consistently been on the High Honor Roll or Principal's Honor Roll while in attendance at DMS, and makes a written request to be considered to one of the advisers no later than 10 school days after the end of the first semester;
 
The student’s was eligible to apply in 6th grade but did not do so, and has a cumulative GPA after six grading periods of no lower than a 3.5, has consistently been on the High Honor Roll or Principal's Honor Roll while in attendance at DMS, and makes a written request to be considered to one of the advisers no later than 10 school days after the end of the first semester;
 
The student was eligible to apply in 6th grade and did so but was not selected, and has a cumulative GPA after six grading periods of no lower than a 3.5, has consistently been on the High Honor Roll or Principal's Honor Roll while in attendance at DMS, and makes a written request to be considered to one of the advisers no later than 10 school days after the end of the first semester.
