The Discovery Spell Bowl Team traveled to Purdue University on Saturday, November 11th to compete in the Junior Spell Bowl State Finals. Only 30 teams from across the state were invited, and Discovery was seeded 4th in their division. They knew that they would have to be at their best to win.
Due to technical difficulties, the scoreboard was broken during the competition therefore teams were in the dark as to their status. After a long competition, Discovery waited patiently to be called, and were thrilled to learn that they had placed first! The team only missed 3 out of 72 words, and edged over the 2nd place team by way of a tie-breaker. Six members received perfect scores! Congratulations Spellers on your State Championship!
